Postal Art For All
Current envelope count: 315

I am sending painted envelopes to people around the world for free. On March 19th, 2020, I invited strangers to send their mailing addresses to receive a complimentary piece of mail art. My original intention was to lift spirits during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis but I am continuing the project even as Covid recedes. I work through addresses in the order they were received and delete addresses when complete. The gallery below is a selection of envelopes that have been mailed.

My project aims are simple: I wish to spread joy, make art accessible, help us connect in a time of isolation, and inspire others to do the same. Mail is the perfect vehicle for my project because it creates joy immediately and requires little funds. There is nothing more delightful than receiving a lovingly-crafted letter in the post. It is a small gesture with a significant impact. I encourage participants to submit the address of a friend in need in lieu of their own.

Postal Art For All is made possible by a grant from the Awesome Foundation, Boston Chapter. It is also funded partly by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

To participate, please email your mailing address to postalartforall@gmail.com. I am taking a break from this project but plan to resume it soon.
